Sharing South Africa’s Wines With the World
South Africa is home to some of the world’s most unique and vibrant wines, shaped by centuries of tradition and the richness of the Africa soil.
We started our shop with one simple goal: to bring the authenticity of South African wine to tables and glasses in the UK. Each bottle in our collection is handpicked from local vineyards, chosen for its character, quality, and the story it carries.
We believe every bottle tells a story of sun-drenched vineyards, passionate winemakers, and the joy of connection.

Emily moves to cape town
In January 2016, Emily boarded a flight to Cape Town to pursue her undergraduate degree in Environmental & Geographical Science.
The Western Cape accounts for 90% of all South African wine production. With the Cape Winelands located less than 50km from the University of Cape Town, plenty of wine tasting ensued during Emily’s three years in Cape Town.

The COVID-19 PANDEMIC
During the COVID-19 pandemic, South African winemakers faced some of the harshest restrictions in the world – particularly because of the government’s multiple bans on alcohol sales and exports.

On cloud wine is born
The idea for On Cloud Wine was born! A platform for winemakers in South Africa to sell their products on the UK market. The year consisted of many months of planning and sampling to compile our stocklist

From south africa to the uk
With the wines now in the UK, we began establishing trusted suppliers and building a strong network to share South Africa’s finest with local wine lovers

A toast to the journey
The past five years hasn’t been easy for South African wine. Between global challenges, shifting markets, and the long road back from the pandemic, small producers like ours have had to dig deep.
We’ve learned the resilience from the vines themselves: they thrive, under pressure. And so have we.
Today, we continue to honour the spirit and values that inspired us from the very beginning. Every bottle tells a story of creativity, courage and connection. Our mission continues to be to foster meaningful connections and bring the joy of South African wine to more people around the world
